ABSTRACT penelitian “VARIASI BAHASA LAWAK “MONOKS” (Sebuah analisis terhadap variasi bahasa lawak yang diujarkan oleh Sumono)


A language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which a social groups (Bloch and Trager (1942:5)).

Language is a system of communication by sound, through the organs of speech and hearing among human beings of a certain group or community, using vocal symbol possessing arbitrary conventional meanings.(Pei and Gaynor (1954 :19)).

Based on two theories from linguist. A language has two principal concept are arbitrary and conventional. For example is clown with their jokes. Because language (especially: oral tongue) is articulate general communication.

Since clown has been exist in Indonesia for more than 10 years, it’s important to review and research the language of joke existence as well as it’s content we know about vocable of clown cam make our laugh. Because they have characteristics performance. The arbitrary and conventional of it make they well-known on public that interpretation within the characteristics word spelling which is considered symbols from their jokes.

Looking at language naively, one perceives two fundamental aspects. Language is used for the expression of thoughts, and the choice of linguistics means used for the expression of a specific idea varies depending on a number of contextual parameters.

The occurrence of alternative linguistic expressions is related on all levels to contextual parameters: the relative priority of specific languages, specific sociolects or dialects, specific registers and specific utterans. As a consequence, the study of language as a whole must involve the analysis of both the iternal and the contextual phenomena.
